After 8 months, It's time to stop the blog: the movie is out, the Promotion is over as the award season ... so there is nothing new to add on this blog. At the Beginning, I couldn't think that I would enjoy doing this blog as it actually was, and I hope you enjoyed it too. I just wanted to share my obsession about this Movie and its fantastic cast and as said Hugh Jackman last year at the Oscars "the Musical is back". I will keep the blog online, but it will not be updated anymore.

I re-open the commentaries ... so please comment if you want to say what you think of this blog.

Daniel Day Lewis has no projects.

Marion will next appear in Christopher Nolan's film Inception, alongsideLeonardo DiCaprio and Ellen Page which will be released on July 16, 2010 and in Guillaume Canet's film Little White Lies. She's also in talks to star alongside Jude Law, Kate Winslet and Matt Damon in Steven Soderbergs thriller film Contagion and to join the next Woody Allen's Project.

As a great fan of Sarah Jessica Parker, Penelope will next appear alongside her idole on the sequel of Sex and the City. Moreover, she is currently in talks to join the next episode of the franchise Pirates of The Carabbean alongside the amazing Johnny Depp and directed by Rob Marshall.

Nicole will appear with Aaron Eckhart in the film adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Rabbit Hole. Nicole will also star in The Danish Girl, a film adaptation of the novel of the same name, playing Einar Wegener, the world's first post-op transsexual, in which she appears opposite Gwyneth Paltrow. She also plan to appear in the next Adam Sandler's comedy alongside Jennifer Aniston.

Judi renewed her collaboration with Sir Peter Hall at the Rose Theatre in Kingston upon Thames in A Midsummer Night's Dream which opened in February 2010, when she played Titania as Elizabeth I of England in her later years. She is also set to start in the next James Bond opus and in Jane Eyre later in the year.

Kate recently starred in the film adaptation of Jim Thompson's The Killer Inside Me alongside Casey Affleck and Jessica Alba which premiered on January 24, 2010 at the Sundance Film Festival. Moreover, She is currently shooting the new film of Nicole Kassel Earthbound alonside Kathy Bates and Whoopy Goldberg.

Fergie will be on tour all year all around the world. With her group the Black Eyed Peas, she recently won 3 grammys including Best pop record of the year.

Sophia will next appear in an italian TV production called La mia casa è piena di specchi.

Marion Cotillard: A tiger's fantasy Nine lives

If you value your life, don't confuse the real Marion Cotillard with the characters she plays onscreen.

"When people ask me how I am like Edith Piaf, how I am like Luisa Contini, then I become very mad," she declared, eyes blazing. "I am an actress and they are characters I am playing. Why is that so hard for some people to understand?"

After five minutes in her presence, you not only understand her point perfectly, but you wonder how anyone could make the mistake.

Cotillard took the world by storm as Piaf in La Vie en rose, winning anOscar for her performance as the decrepit, drug-addled "little sparrow" who scorched the concert stage with her self-destructive songs.

And now, she is exquisite in Nine as the liquid-eyed Luisa, suffering through the infidelities and humiliations that her husband, internationally acclaimed film director Guido Contini, keeps publicly inflicting on her, until she can take no more and strikes back in a fantasy striptease number of unparalleled masochism.

But she's neither of these women. Nor is she the mischievous Fanny from A Good Year, the battered Billie Frechette from Public Enemies or ... well, you get the picture.

"What I love about my job and why I'm doing this is the desire to understand someone else. And you don't have to be someone to understand them."

She tilts her head to one side and smiles. An artist who wanted to paint the trueCotillardwould find himself using colours like dusty rose or aubergine. There's an almost palpable warmth emanating from her, but it's not coupled with the usual empty cheerfulness found in many Hollywood stars.

"Look, if you work all the time, if just do movie after movie, you're playing another person more than you're being yourself and the real you can get lost that way.

"If you don't live your real life, then you become empty and the only place you can find authentic inspiration is in reality. That's where the truth is."

To play Luisa, she went for her inspiration to a pair of real directors' wives.

Because Nine is based on Fellini's autobiographical 8 1/2, it's always been understood that the long-suffering wife who gave up her acting career for a while was inspired by Fellini's spouse,Giulietta Masina.

"Yes, part of my inspiration was her," says Cotillard. "If you look at the films she made for Fellini in their early days together, you can see a great artist who was also a very fragile woman.

"But I found even more material in the documentary film called Hearts of Darkness, about (Francis Ford) Coppola shooting Apocalypse Now. His wife Eleanor had to endure the most blatant infidelities on the set, much like Luisa does with Guido, but yet she remained so dedicated to him until he finally pushed her too far. Just like Guido does with Luisa."

Cotillard has slipped into a world where the real Giulietta and Eleanor have taken equal footing with the fictional Luisa and you begin to see how her art is formed.

"When you understand someone, you can love them no matter how terrible they seem to be. She knows that Guido, as an artist, as a director, lives in a world where his desires are all fulfilled. I want this set, I want this costume..." She stops, with a catch in her throat. "I want this actress. So you take them all.

"Luisa can deal with the physical infidelity, even though it is painful to her. What she finds unforgivable is the lie."

She slips into one of her songs from the film, "My Husband Makes Movies," whispering a few lines softly in her endearingly husky tremolo.

"Singing with Guido all night on the phone ... long ago, someone else ago."

Then she looks up suddenly and Luisa has vanished.

"Rob (Marshall) told me he wanted to make people feel Guido ought to be with Luisa again. That was my job. Where do I find it all? In my character. Never in myself."

Her voice rises again. "I will never, never use something from my own life. I feel it is too dangerous.

"If you wake up an old pain, for example, because you have to cry in a scene, then how do you put that pain back to sleep again?"

But where did Cotillard find the depths of degradation she needed to allow a room full of men to paw her as she stripped in front of her husband in the fantasy song "Take It All"?

"I found it in Luisa. She carried me through it. It's such a gift for an actress to find a character who will enable her to free herself that completely.

"You can't find it in every part you play, but when you do, you say `Yes, I am free! Thank you, my friend!'"

Filming Nine was a family affair for Nicole Kidman.

The Oscar winner had just given birth to her and Keith Urban's daughter,Sunday Rose, when she began work on director Rob Marshall's movie adaptation of the Broadway musical…

"She was excited to be part of a company and go back to work right away," Marshall tells us. "And her baby was on set with us. It was beautiful."

Urban was also on set.

"Keith just watched and had this big smile while holding the baby," choreographer John DeLuca says. "It was nice to have little Sunday Rose there."

Even if he is a huge country music star, Urban did not join in on the singing, nor did he offer up any of his expertise.

"Keith was always there, but he stepped back into the background," Marshall said. "He just steps back, which is really nice."

In 'Nine,' Kate channels her go-go-boot-wearing mom Goldie Hawn's "Laugh-In" days in a rollicking musical number, showing her versatile side by dancing and really belting it out.

"[A big song-and-dance number has] always been something I wanted to do," says Kate. "My mother was a big believer in if you want to do this in your life, you have to go for it. … For her to watch her daughter [singing and dancing], the essence is we're performers and that's in our blood, and she gave a lot of that to me."

Co-star Daniel calls Kate, "Unbelievable; I watched her rehearsing -- she was just wonderful."And director Rob Marshall says, "I was so surprised, and that's why we basically created a role for her. And we wrote this song ["Cinema Italiano"] for Kate -- she was so thrilled to do something she had trained for."

Kate's a lot more modest about her performance, however. Thinking about what nearly six-year-old son Ryder will say about the film, "I think he's gonna be more into [his dad Chris Robinson's] rock-and-roll thing. I think he's gonna be like, 'Oh, mom and her sparkles.'"

Kate adds that she got to know Nicole and Penelope Cruz very well during the shoot because they all lived in the same London apartment complex.

"It was fascinating to be able to dance and sing and learn and play with all of these women and really get to know them," says Nicole. "That just doesn't happen often and I think we're really tight because of it."

The Young Victoria, Crazy Heart and The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus were the big winners at the annual Costume Designers Guild Awards on Thursday night.

The historical movie starring Emily Blunt landed the Excellence In Period Film prize at the ceremony in Los Angeles, while Jeff Bridges' Crazy Heartearned the honour for Excellence In Contemporary Film.

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, which marked late actor Heath Ledger's final onscreen appearance, was named top of the fantasy film category for the movie's outlandish costumes.

In the TV categories, awards went to Glee, Mad Men and Drew Barrymore's TV movie Grey Gardens.

Nine director Rob Marshall received the Distinguished Collaborator Award, and Emily Bluntwon the Swarovski Award, which honours exceptional talent. »

The 34-year-old singer is currently on tour with the Black Eyed Peaspromoting their new album E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies). She is also working on the upcoming movie 'Nine' which also stars Penelope Cruz,Nicole Kidman and Kate Hudson.

Fergie says her and Cruz were forced to gain weight for their roles in the film, "We were eating our brains out. We ordered everything fried and full of fat and salty."

She says, "I actually love (British food). I was actually told to gain weight for the film so I've been eating everything - anything and everything. That's why I am covering up except for my legs because they never gain weight and that's the only part that never changes but everything else is covered."

But it wasn't easy for her to lose the weight after shooting, leading many to believe that Fergie was pregnant. "If I don't do sit-ups, my stomach sticks out," she explains. "Legs are easy for me. That's my lucky spot."

And it took her a while to get fully motivated to get her toned body back admitting "I'm a procrastinator. It was a very gradual thing, getting back into it and finally letting a trainer train me. I didn't want to be told what to do, and I wasn't mentally ready to crack the whip."

Daniel plays Guido Contini, a film director who is struggling with creative and personal issues while balancing the women in his life in the new adaptation of the Tony Award-winning 1982 Broadway production.

As for Kate, who pulls off a knockout performance, Daniel says, "She worked so hard. … Kate had an extremely demanding number. … To have to be able to sing and dance in that way at the same time is tough beyond belief, and she was just wonderful."

Daniel calls Nicole's character "the vital piece" of the puzzle because she's "the inspiration that [Guido] is struggling to find as he's engaged in the process of making a film. He's in a wasteland of his own making, and I can conjure … my muse for a few moments, but I can't get her to be that thing that I need her to be, which is the key that opens the door into that world that I'm trying to find."

Sophia Loren plays Daniel Day-Lewis' mother in 'Nine,' a big-screen musical based on the life of famed Italian director Frederico Fellini, with whom Sophia worked.

"I would like to see the film with my children and with my grandchildren," Sophia tells. "I would like to make it a family thing because I think that … I hope that it is something that I am going to be very proud of."

The story, which was adapted from the Broadway play and is loosely based on Fellini's film, '8-1/2,' is the story of Guido Contini, a film director who is struggling with creative and personal issues while balancing the women in his life.

"Fellini is unique," Sophia says. "Fellini is something that is never going to be repeated. So I think that everybody is going to be very much interested in his life, in his way of life, in his way of working, in his way of dealing with people, in his way of dealing with life. Sophia, who is considered by many to be a legend, admits that she was a bit nervous about working with Daniel.

"I think we made each other nervous," she says, "but for me, he was very intimidating. Yes, he was."

Daniel may have made Sophia a bit nervous, but she says that she completely bonded with her female co-stars.

"Nicole would come with her little girl. And with Penelope, I have a very special friendship, which is something that I cannot explain, but it's there. Judy Dench is one of the most beautiful actresses I have ever met in theatre,"

"I really love dance and I really love music, but I have never been able to sing professionally in any way before this movie -- only in my karaoke at home. I am very shy about singing."

"It was fascinating to be able to dance and sing and learn and play with all of these women and really get to know them," says Nicole. "That just doesn't happen often, and I think we're really tight because of it."

"It was like a family," agrees screen legend Sophia. "We were eating together, and we were trying to root for each other because I don't think that any of [the ladies had experience] in musicals. … So I knew that we were going to get along very well together, and we did."

But, three weeks (after Public Enemies) , you moved on, with "Nine"…

And, frankly, in the beginning, I didn't feel well. I was too exhausted to live my dream: being in a musical. I had to drag myself to rehearsals. I told myself every day: "Are you nuts? How many girls dream of being in your shoes? How can you hesitate?". But my body wouldn't follow. And then, during three weeks of rehearsals, I met Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Kate Hudson, Fergie, Judi Dench, Sophia Loren and Daniel Day-Lewis. I realized we were all going to be in the same studio, for two months. And I understood we all had our fears concerning the technique required. Suddenly, instead of exhaustion, I felt euphoria, and it hasn't left me since.

How do you work on this new project?

By studying my part. In "Nine", the shadow of Giulietta Masina still floats over my character, Luisa. Although it's not a remake of 8 ½, this film is inspired by the Italian cinema and its master, Fellini. I immersed myself in the role.

And how were the singing lessons?

This kind of film is all about the Broadway style of singing! You really have to let go. But if I have a motive, I know I can succeed. I felt like I was making a step forward.

Do you still want to make a music record?

I've always loved to sing. This reminds me of my beginnings as an actress. When I began making movies, I needed to feel entitled to tell people: "Look at me, listen to me." After "Nine", I almost feel legitimate enough to sing. My work in this film gives me the right to try and fulfill my wishes. I just have to find the right project.

"It was the first time I helped put a music video together. I love it. I love the song and am very happy. I love doing something that I've never done before... The video is a mix of me the recording in the studio, the scene of the movie and rehearsals."

Was it nerve-wracking to go back and watch yourself during initial rehearsals?

"A little. I am always nervous when I start a new movie, but I was very excited to meet all the fantastic actors. I was intimidated for sure – more nervous about what I had to do and not about who I was working with."

With award season underway, what is more important: the nomination or the actual win?

"The most important thing is the movie. I want people to go see the movie and love it. With award season, the most important thing is the people you meet. I was so happy to meet Sandra Bullock, Meryl Streep, Lee Daniels and to have the opportunity to tell them that I love their work so much... It is a real joy to be nominated. The win is just the cherry on the cake. Winning is amazing and great, but it shouldn't be the most important thing. I am just so fortunate about all the things that are happening to me. It makes me very happy. I want to live the present and enjoy it."

"I just finished 'Inception.'"

How was it working with Leonardo DiCaprio on that film?

Penelope Cruz was left with bleeding hands after she filmed a stunt for her upcoming movie Nine.

The 35-year-old beauty was hanging in the air with ropes for the stunt and the constant struggling with the ropes led her hands to bleed.

The Daily Express quoted helmer Rob Marshall as saying: “She’d be the last one on the soundstage working and I’d have to say, ‘Penelope, it’s over!’

“In the middle of the number she does all this work with ropes, swinging on them, and she had formed calluses and her hands were bleeding. We told her she would have to wear gloves but she was like, ‘No, no, I have to feel it.’”

However, it looks like the painful ordeal turned out to a pleasurable experience for Cruz.

Marshall added: “We finished it and she was in tears, saying, ‘I loved every second. I want to install ropes in my bedroom so I don’t have to let go of it.’”
