Liliane is a French film producer who is working with Guido on his latest film. Although he doesn't remember their meeting, he has convinced her that he has a brilliant idea for a musical. When Lilianearrives in Venice to check on his progress, Guido must convince her that the film is well under way even though he hasn't even thought of an idea. She sings the song "Follies Bergere."

For the Film, Liliane is not producer anymore but a costume designer and a confident for Guido.

According to the Music director Paul Bogaev, before Judi Dench was cast, Marion "Cotillard auditioned for the producer but was cast as the wife".

Barbra Streisand was also considered for that part.

HEAD to HEAD [ the Part of Guido ] - [5/6]

George Clooney, Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem and Antonio Banderas were considered as possible Guido. Banderas turned down the chance to reprise his role as Guido in the film version and Bardem was cast to star as Guido Contini but dropped out due to exhaustion. He decided to take a full year off to recuperate. Daniel Day Lewis was cast instead.

HEAD to HEAD [The Part of Carla] - [4/6]

Renée Zellweger was the first choice for Carla. After several auditions, Penélope Cruz took the role.

HEAD TO HEAD [ The Part of Stephanie ] - [3/6]

Anne Hathaway and Sienna Miller both auditioned for the role of Stephanie Necrophuros, a part which eventually went to Kate Hudson, but the major adversary of Hudson was cameron Diaz.
Cameron was desperate to land the part of dancing film critic Stephanie Necrophuros but lost out to Hudson.
‘Cameron was keen to land a lead part outside the romantic comedy genre she is best known for,’ says a source.

‘She gave an amazing audition and her dance routine was something else but her singing let her down and Kate, who wasn’t as good a dancer but was the better singer, got it.’

HEAD to HEAD [ The part of Luisa ] - [2/6]

Katie Holmes was keen on Luisa's part. She auditioned, but Rob Marshall felt she was not the better choice, choosing Marion Cotillard instead.

HEAD to HEAD [ The Part of Claudia ] - [1/6]

Catherine Zeta Jones was set to play Claudia but dropped out during negociations. Jones wanted the part enlarged. when Marshall refused, Jones left the project. Before Nicole Kidman was cast, immediately after Catherine Zeta jones turned down the part, both Juliette Binoche and Demi Moore were auditionned for the part. Even actresses Amy Adams, Anne Hathaway and Gwyneth Paltrow Were Considered for that part.
